Tucson, Arizona (May 7th,
2009) - Pat Smiley will be honored as the Mothers Day
Grand Marshal as the SWDRA Late Models, Presented by Dairy
Queen of Arizona, fire up this Saturday night May 9th.
Pat Smiley, wife of Arizona Late Model Legend Marion
Smiley, will be on hand for the Mothers Day Festivities
and joins USA Raceway in honoring all of our Mothers.
Marion Smiley "The Laughing Boy", started his driving
career in Tucson winning the Tucson Stock Car Championship
in 1966. Smiley went on to win his first Late Model race
in 1971 and never looked back. In 1996 Smiley was
inducted into the Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame and
became famous for his battles with Bill Cheesbourg.
Smiley went on to win the Western World in 1979 and 1980
and also holds a record for most consecutive wins.
"I am excited to be able to help out and be able to give
back to the racing community" commented Marion Smiley "It
is good to see an effort to bring racing back to what it
once was."
Motherly festivities will be plentiful on the main
concourse allowing for some pampering prior to the
action. Trendz Boutique will be on hand fulfilling all
the shopping desires for the fashionable mothers while
Mary Kay representatives will also join the fun with all
their beautifying products. "Team Lump Busters" will be
selling popcorn to raise money for the Arizona Breast
Cancer 3-Day walk. Gift Certificates from the Starr Pass
Resort, Reva's Western Wear, The Bumsteer and Style
America will among the Mother's Day prizes to be given
away.
The high powered Super Late Models will
headline the show along with Factory Stocks, X Mods and
Hornets. General admission tickets will go on sale at 5pm
for only $12, racing will begin promptly at 7pm.
Season Passes are on sale for only $199 and $149 for
Seniors, Students and Military. Suite Access Passes which
allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from
USA Raceway's VIP Suite are also on sale for only $349.
USA Raceway is located east of Tucson off I-10 exit 268,
then 1.6 miles south on Craycroft Road, which turns into
