Tucson, Arizona (May 3rd,
2009) -John Gaston captured his first career American
Sprint Car Series feature win by topping Saturday night's
25-lap ASCS Southwest Region main event at USA Raceway.
After starting from the front row outside, Gaston took the
checkered flag in front of pole starter Joshua Hodges,
with Charles Davis, Jr., John Carney II and Ben Gregg
rounding out the top five.
Kaylene Verville crossed the stripe sixth, with Rickey
Hood, defending series champion Rick Ziehl, Ronnie Clark
and Mike Martin completing the top ten.
Clark, Verville, Derrik Ortega and Hodges topped heat
race action for the 34-car field, with Ziehl winning the
"B" Main.
Marty Hussak won a hard fought 15 lap green to
checkered shootout in the Super Stock division. Hussak
extended his points lead in the series after Mike Brigner
did not pass post race inspection and was disqualified.
Hussak was followed to the stripe by Terry Hill, Dwayne
Hogan, Erick Gibson and James Binkley.
Bud Grossenbacher denied Tony Evans of his second straight
Southwest Modlite victory at the lightning fast USA
Raceway. Gerry Glenn, Landon Cling and Adam Echter filled
the remaining top five positions.
Tim Cotherman received 1st place hardware in Dwarf Car
action. Cotherman edged out Chad Stewart and Aaron Jones
in spectacular fashion as the three cars crossed the line
with only fractions of a second separating them.

USA Raceway hosts the Mothers Day Race Celebration this
Saturday May 9th as The Champions of the SWDRA Late Models
are joined by Factory Stocks, X Mods and Hornets. General
admission tickets will go on sale at 5pm for only $10,
racing will begin promptly at 7pm.
Season Passes are on sale for only $199 and $149 for
Seniors, Students and Military. Suite Access Passes which
allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from
USA Raceway's VIP Suite are also on sale for only $349.
