Kiley Fellers tries his hand at the Chili Bowl Mayhem. It's pretty tough out there! Jeff Perry takes the outside of Kiley as they battle for a transfer spot.
How many of these drivers can you name?
A lot of people were wondering how our week at the Chili Bowl went. All in all, I would say we did very well. The car functioned flawlessly all week, and Nathan was definitely on his game. We qualified Thursday night, and we drew a pill in the 80's. This would put us in the back of our heat. Nathan ran a good heat being the high scorer by finishing third. He would start in the third row of his qualifier, and passing a couple more cars, he was in for the main with no trouble at all. We were clearly one of the faster cars of the evening. He would start the main in the 4th row inside. The main was tough, but Nathan drove a good clean race and ended up finishing 9th. This would put us in the B-Main on Saturday. Saturday would prove to be a really tough day. We wanted to try to best our finish last year, but the task at hand was to make it into the A. We sat in staging for what seemed like hours before it was time to go. Nathan would start toward the back of the second B Main. We needed to pass 5 cars to make the A. This would prove to be a daunting task. Two laps in, Nathan started to move forward. Passing 2 cars almost immediately, he found himself boxed in on the bottom, and was having a tough time moving forward. He knew he had to try something so he started to try to move off the bottom. As soon as he did, the 32 car made contact with the rear bumper and spun him around. That is the sequence that you see below.......

Nathan was able to restart after this, but had to go to the back. After the restart, he passed one car, and started to work his way forward one more time. After several more laps, Nathan slid in to a pile up going into turn 1. He had nowhere to go. Unfortunately, the kick out was bent into the right rear tire to the point that he could no longer continue. The officials waved him off. That's our Chili Bowl story for 2009. All in all, I think we did pretty darned good. The main thing is that we had a whole lot of fun.

Casey Shuman looked very fast all week.

Cole Whitt is always fun to watch
