YOUR SAFETY SQUAD

The Desert Rat Pushtrucks (DRP) and Fire/Safety members held a Safety Training
Class on Saturday, 14 Feb 09.  We had 19 members, 2 AMRA directors and 6
different types of race cars, and 1 sacrificial automobile in attendance.  Our
training included lift points, extrication, loading and unloading the
ambulance, driver
compartment switchs for fuel and electrical, extinguishing gasoline, ethanol,
and oil fires with Dry Chem and Water(with Cold Fire Additive) extinguishers.


DRP recently purchased the following to increase the safety of all drivers: a
Halligan Tool and a Holmatro Rescue tool (Duo pump, spreader, ram, and cutter).
 We used it on the sacrificial auto for training to cut the
roof off, open a door jam using the ram, and open a jammed door with the
spreader.

We had a BBQ for lunch and shared stories.
