NAPA AUTO PARTS AND MANZANITA SPEEDWAY GOING ALL OUT IN FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT
(Sept. 4) NAPA Auto Parts and Manzanita Speedway have joined forces to make Saturday night’s Fan Appreciation race the best ever. The general admission tickets will be sold for $15.00 but there are special pricing packages that will greatly reduce the cost:
Family package number one will admit two adults and two students (12-18) or two seniors (65 or over) for only $35.00. This is a saving of $21. The second NAPA Family Package will admit two adults and two children (11 and under) for only $20.00 which is a saving of $10.00.
Anyone wearing a NAPA shirt will be admitted for $5.00 and if a fan brings a NAPA ball, available at all NAPA stores, the admission price will be $5.00 off the regular $15.00 price.
The Manzanita office is virtually full of gifts that will be given out during the night.
Also NAPA Dogs will sell for only $1.00 at the concession stand for all in attendance.
The racing itself should be, as usual, a knockdown, drag-out affair as the American Sprint Car Series , Canyon Region, Arizona Mini Sprints and Arizona Midget Racing Association combine for 12 events featuring side by side racing on Manzy’s ultra fast one third mile track.
The standings remain basically the same in the ASCS sprints except Jeremy Sherman’s lead over Charles Davis, Jr. has grown to the point that it seems highly probable that he will become the first ever driver to win four consecutive driving titles. His first two were sanctioned by the Arizona Sprint Car Association and the 2007 races were sanctioned by the American Sprint Car Series.
Sherman is on a hot streak that has carried him to seven wins in the past eight starts. He has a total of nine wins and has also won a USAC/CRA outing at Manzy. A total of 11 races remain on the schedule for the sprints with the season coming to an end in the Western World Championships in November.
Davis is comfortably in second place as hard luck has hit him in numerous races including three hard crashes. He ran over debris the last time out and blew a tire. He made it back out and drove his way back to an eighth place finish.
Kiley Fellers had his win streak snapped in the last mini sprint car race but is well on his way to getting his first driving title. With only seven races left to run Fellers is 415 points ahead of Josh Castro with Josh Shipley, winner in the anniversary race, is another 165 points in arrears.
The midgets are hoping for more cars for this outing. Terry Goodwin is the points leader and R.J. Johnson, a two time champion, won the last time out. Only three races remain on the midget schedule.
The gates will open at 5:00 with competitive racing getting underway at 7:30.
