Aim for The Desert Classic

- Guy Norton picked up his first ever IMCA Championship
closing out the points season just one point ahead of Jason
Noll earning himself the 2011 Canyon Speedway IMCA
Championship. Norton joins 2010 Champion, Tim Ward, as they
aim towards the $3000 to win Desert Classic.
While
Norton was busy earning his title, Ward was also aiming for
one of his own and completed a remarkable season winning the
Arizona IMCA crown as well as finishing sixth in National
point standings.
Both
drivers are set to compete in the 23rd Annual
Desert Classic with anticipation of honoring their home state
with yet another title, 2011 Desert Classic Champion!
IMCA
Modified stars from around the country will compete in two
complete events starting Friday night with the winner picking
up $750 and securing a top spot in Saturday's finale. The top
six finishers from Friday will be locked into the Desert
Classic Pole Dash for Saturday's feature while the remaining
competitors will return for a final chance to make the $3000
to win main event.
The Total Seal Late Model Series will go head to head with The
West Coast Late Model series in two separate events over the
course of the two day Desert Classic with the winner of Friday
night's preliminary feature event collecting $1000 and a spot
in Saturday's finale.
The top six finishers from Friday will be locked into the
Desert Classic Pole Dash for Saturday's feature while the
remaining competitors will return for a final chance to make
the $2000 to win main event.
The Desert
Classic, which takes place the first weekend of November,
enters its 23rd year and is a showcase for top Late
Model and IMCA Modified drivers across the country. The best
of the Best will tackle Canyon Speedway's 3/8-mile clay oval
over the course of the two day event on November 4th
and 5th with more than $50,000 in "A" Feature money
alone distributed over the course of the blockbuster event.
Arizona's
Terry Belcher Jr. became the 22nd winner of the
Desert Classic as he etched his name into the history books by
winning the 2010 edition of the classic. Belcher is
anticipated to return and defend his title against the
nation's best IMCA Modified and Super Late Model stand outs.
