IT WILL ALL UNFOLD & BE TOLD ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 3rd, 2009 AT CSP

There is an open practice scheduled for Wednesday 9-30-09 at Canyon Speedway Park. The pit gate be will open at noon and the practice will run from 7pm to 9pm. FREE front grandstand entry but it cost $10 for a pit pass.

Saturday October 3rd, 2009 the CSP staff will manage a double-headlined event featuring ASCA SPRINT CARS and AMRA MIDGETS along with a PURE STOCK showdown and the forever popular BOMBER MANIA division. The show is expected to start promptly at 7:30pm.

The AMRA Midgets are trying to regain momentum after a change in their leadership within the club. Rick Shuman now holds the reigns of the club but its Phoenix native RJ-Johnson who is looking to put his number 51 Ellis built chassis, Fantana powered midget back in victory lane. RJ won the last AMRA outing at Canyon, currently leads the AMRA 2009 series points run and is looking for his third Midget points championship. At twenty two years old, RJ is a second generation torch holder after his father Ricky Johnson won eight Arizona point championships. RJ-Johnson will be running double-duty as he wheels his #77 Buckley built Ford powered ASCA Sprint car around the Canyon clay. RJ is chasing third win in a row and better known as a "Hat-Trick" at Canyon in his sprint car as he will flex his muscle to get up front again.

The ABC Motorsports team and driver 12-Nathan High won the last ASCA sprint car show two weeks ago. High made the run look easy leading all 25 laps, but a five car feast was going on behind the ABC ride between T. Ogle, S. Sussex, B. St. James, J. Sherman & B. Ream who came from the back. Chalk up the race as one of the best sprint car battles Canyon has seen.

The ASCA has a new purse stucture for the remainder of 2009 as outlined below:
17 to 20 cars will pay $1000.00 to WIN & $150.00 to START the "A" Main
13 to 16 cars will pay $750.00 to WIN & $150.00 to START the "A" Main
Less than 12 cars will pay $500.00 to WIN & $150.00 to START the "A" Main
***Canyon Speedway will also pay $100.00 to any ASCA sprint driver that takes a green flag, even those who cannot make the Main Event.

The Pure stocks have a points shootout at the Canyon corral lined up this Saturday. Chris McCurdy won't go away in his orange 23 and looks to outrun the "The Wild Child" 25-Steve Bitting. These young guns are tied at 733 points and boast a 100 point lead over third place points runner 49-Brandon Parker. The top three BOMBER "MANIACS" are the 32 of Mike Bray at 690pts who is being chased by second place number 13 Jason Crowe with 645pts and Mr. Consistent 68v Joe Vlasity - 619pts is in third.
