Tucson, Arizona (March 21st, 2009) – Christy Georges charged to victory lane in the fiercely contested UMP West Modified 25 lap feature event on Saturday night.  Georges returned to her winning ways by holding off RC Whitwell and delivering a knock out blow in Round 2 of The Race of Champions.

Georges took the point on the opening circuit holding off numerous surges from a stout cast of competitors.  She completed the 25 circuits driving flawlessly as she crossed the line just ahead of Whitwell, Robert Adams and Anthony Madrid in a battle that had fans on their feet until the end.

RC Whitwell, defending champion, battled with Tucson’s Robert Adams swapping runner up spots on several occasions.  Both drivers made several attempts at passing Georges unsuccessfully.

 

Anthony Madrid, 2008 UMP Regional Champion, drove from deep in the field advancing 12 positions for a 4th place finish. Madrid was followed by Brad Campbell, Brian Clark, Chad Ayers, Dane Jorgenson, Cody Alvarez and Sherman Barnett rounding out the top ten.

 

James Binkley continued his dominance, winning the Super Stock 20 lap feature event for the second straight time.  Binkley, held off a tough crew as he was followed to victory by Terry Hill and Marty Hussak.

 

Dylan Cappello got acquainted with the Budweiser Girls in victory lane after driving an outstanding race in Arizona Modified Midget competition.  Cappello, Jacob Hawkins, Dalton Gabbord, Matt Jackson and Garrett Guilkey made up the top 5.

 

John Callans and Chris Mitchell were victorious in the Hornet divisions.  Callans won for the second straight week.

USA Raceway hosts the UMP West Modifieds this Saturday March 28th as the Race of Champions returns for round 3. The Sunoco Fuels Autograph Challenge will kick off the event as the UMP West Modifieds are joined by The Arizona Late Models, Super Stocks and Factory Stocks.  General admission tickets will go on sale at 5pm for only $10, racing will begin promptly at 7pm.

 

Season Passes are on sale for only $199 and $149 for Seniors, Students and Military.  Suite Access Passes which allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from USA Raceway’s VIP Suite are also on sale for only $349.
